Dr. Rufaro Mucheka

Dr. Rufaro Mucheka works for Nedbank Wealth, South Africa. She has extensive experience in planning and implementation of Business Strategy as well as setting up new business models both in South Africa and across the continent. Her doctoral study was inspired by the experiential learning attained whilst leading a partnership project between Nedbank & Ecobank and setting up a wealth management business in the Ecobank markets mainly in West Africa. She has spent extensive periods of time in diverse local cultures such as Nigeria, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal, Zimbabwe and Namibia acquiring local knowledge. This Business Consultant has become an expert on localization strategies that companies used when setting up businesses across the African continent.

Rufaro uses her experiential knowledge in Financial Services, Business Strategy, Doing Business in Africa and Wealth Management to promote opportunities in Africa and why the time for Africa is now. She is an international speaker and has spoken at events such as AFSIC, Investing in Africa (London), Africa Invest (Johannesburg), Entrepreneurial Forum and
internally within Nedbank. In addition, she was a moderator for a panel discussion “Jersey’s Evolving Relationship with Africa” hosted by Jersey Finance in Jersey. She also writes thought leadership articles in publications such as Private Banker International (UK), Bizcommunity and on several platforms within her organization including interviews on some radio channels.

She has more than 20 years’ experience in financial services and is a member of a number of leadership committees within her organisation. Rufaro, an Honorary Member of the Golden Key International Honour Society holds Ph.D. and MBA in Business Administration from UCT
Graduate School of Business. As a Certified Financial Planner professional (CFP®) she is a member of the FPI of Southern Africa, an affiliate of the FPSB.
